On 19 August 2026, the Community Creative Center for Women and Girls with Disabilities (CCCWGD) joined the global community in commemorating World Humanitarian Day, alongside the Coordinating Unit of Associations of Persons with Disabilities Cameroon and the Association for Women and Girls in Deaf Culture, with support from partners including CBM.
The commemoration provided an important opportunity to honour dedicated humanitarian workers, volunteers, community leaders, organizations, and advocates who continue to stand with communities affected by crisis, conflict, displacement, and inequality.
As part of the commemoration, CCCWGD had the privilege of showcasing some of the meaningful work we do to economically empower women with disabilities. Through vocational training, skills development, creativity, and entrepreneurship, we create opportunities for women and girls with disabilities to build confidence, strengthen their livelihoods, develop their talents, and participate meaningfully in their communities.
At CCCWGD, we believe that humanitarian action must be inclusive, accessible, participatory, and responsive to the needs of everyone, including persons with disabilities.
Persons with disabilities must not be viewed only as recipients of humanitarian assistance. We are active participants, decision-makers, advocates, leaders, creators, and contributors, with the right to meaningfully participate in decisions and solutions that affect our lives and communities.
The work showcased during this commemoration was a powerful reminder that when women with disabilities are given opportunities, resources, and an enabling environment, they can transform their talents into livelihoods and become agents of change within their communities.
On this World Humanitarian Day, CCCWGD celebrates everyone working to build a safer, more peaceful, accessible, inclusive, and dignified world.
