The Community Creative Center for Women and Girls with Disabilities (CCCWGD) proudly participated in a two-day (4th and 5th of June, 2026) capacity-building workshop organized by the Coordinating Unit of Associations of Persons with Disabilities (CUAPWD) under the She Disability Advocacy Initiative, with funding support from the Disability Rights Fund (DRF).
The training brought together leaders and representatives of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) to strengthen their advocacy skills and enhance their capacity to promote the rights and inclusion of women and girls with disabilities across Cameroon.
Over the course of two days, participants engaged in interactive discussions, strategic planning sessions, and practical learning exercises designed to equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to advance disability rights and inclusive development within their communities.
A major focus of the workshop was understanding the legal and policy frameworks that support disability rights and gender inclusion in Cameroon. Participants explored key national laws and policies, gaining a deeper understanding of the rights guaranteed to persons with disabilities and how these frameworks can be used to advocate for meaningful and lasting change.
The training also emphasized the importance of evidence-based advocacy. Participants learned how to gather and utilize reliable data, facts, and lived experiences to strengthen their advocacy efforts and effectively engage policymakers, stakeholders, and community leaders.
In addition, sessions on resource mobilization provided practical guidance on securing funding, building partnerships, and sustaining advocacy initiatives. These skills are essential for ensuring that disability inclusion efforts continue to make an impact over the long term.
As the workshop concluded, participants left with renewed energy, strengthened capacities, and a shared commitment to promoting an inclusive society where women and girls with disabilities can fully exercise their rights and participate equally in all aspects of life.
